I mentioned this to stat last night, and he wanted to know how to do it, so I figured I'd post it here so everyone can do it (if you haven't already, I just figured this out the other day).
If you're like me, and don't care for the stock font in the game, it's pretty easy to change it.
- Find the font you like (Fonts are in your WINNT or WINDOWS directory of your main drive).
- Copy whatever font you want out out the WINNT\Fonts or WINDOWS\Fonts directory.
- Once you've got it copied, take it over to wherever you've got CoH stored. You want to put that font into your City of Heroes\data\fonts folder. If you don't have a data\fonts folder, just make one.
- Paste the font file into the CoH\data\fonts folder and rename the file to mont_demibold (if you need to add the extension, it's .ttf, but it should already be that if you just copy and pasted it).
- You're done. Just have to restart the game if you're already in it, or log on if you aren't.

What do I rename, the file or the folder?

Rename the file. The folder should be C: (or whatever else you've got it buried in)\City of Heroes\data\fonts
The file should be named mont_demibold.ttf

Maybe don't add the extension. If you just copy/pasted it, it won't need to have it added on. Did you just copy it directly from the fonts folder?

yes and it didn't have the .ttf and I opened the game and nothing, so I changed it to have the .ttf and still nothing.

I was looking for the post on the CoH boards where I found this, but couldn't.
It worked for me, so I'm not sure what you did wrong. Maybe try a different font?
