ok, just found out too that I might not be able to return to CoH cause of new security restrictions. They want a bunch of information about my account that I don't have since I bought it used online. I am gonna have to do some real working on this one.

Well I tried it, it never tried to boot from the disc. It did say a fan wasn't working and asked me to press f1 and I also got a blue screen that I hadn't seen before. But it never booted from the disc.

The problem might be further in then you think. It might be your motherboard. Fan detection is on the board. Did you have the side off when you were doing this? If so, did you notice that the cpu fan was not working? All other cabinet fans are not detected on the board. So either there is a problem with the board or the cpu, or the cpu fan. I have never seen a screen that said a fan was not working. I will see if i can get shak to chime in on this and see what he knows too.

hi sat. sorry to hear whats going on dude. with XP u might to set ( in bios ) it to load frist from the CD drive. if u get a error message about a fan not working it can only be the cpu fan. the pc ur working on....did it get wet ? if not then the mother board is going bad, or has gone bad and it just dosent know it yet. sorry dude. it would also be why u got the blue screen. if it is the one that got wet then ur beatting a dead horse. sorry for the bad news. try the bios thing frist and see if that works. i'll keep checking back on the post and help as much as i can.

OK got the fan problem fixed, then tried top just boot it and it said there was a problem with the hard drive working outside the perimeters. Said it suggested to back it up soon. Then when it booted it froze up about 30 seconds after booting. Tried over then booted from disc and it booted the XP disc but when it got to the partition screen it said it didn't suggest installing in that partition. So I stopped and tried to boot it again and it would only boot from the disc and said that it didn't have a hard drive in it. Am I fucked?

lol...no ur not. what u do have is a bad hard drive. or at least one with bad sectors where the boot info is supposed to be. if u cant slave it to another pc and get ur music and photos, then u have lost it all. that HD needs to be reformated before it will work right again. and even then it might not work right ever again. SO....u will have to have a new or used HD to get back up and running.

Ok well I slaved it to this computer I'm on and got into it but then the hard drive disappeared and I couldn't get any info off it. I don't have a dvd burner on this puter to burn massive amounts of info. I don't mind getting a new HD but I need my music off of this old HD. DAMNIT!

if you can slave it and then it disappeares, then the only other thing is to pay some one ( a data recovery agent ) to retrive the lost info on it. and they r not cheep.

how long were you able to see the drive before it disapired? If it is long enough, then you might be able to move some to the drive on the computer that your using right now, then you can get a flash drive and move some at a time to the new drive when you get windows installed on it. If it does not show up any more, then like shak said, you will need to have it done by someone else.

I cant install windows. I'm afraid it will delete the info. When I tried last time it said it didn't suggest installing it in the partition I had. Then when I went back to retry it said I didn't have a HD to install on. So I'm going to buy a hard drive format it for windows and then slave the old one and try to get info from time to time. Just need a 160GB IDE hard drive, watching one on ebay for about 30 bucks.
